Around the World from Z to A ... Y Day!

Hello new friends,

This is Bart - your adventurous Traveling Blogger. Today I am on safari in a city in Western Africa called Yaounde. Check out the map link.

That’s great that you are exploring strange and wonderful new worlds with your Smart Board. I love studying habitats and different animals and their life cycles. Zebras are one of my favorites.

Did you know that all of the animals in Africa have habitats? One of the habitats is called a savanna. Savannas are grasslands, with very few trees, but lots of grass. Savannas have a wet season and a dry season, rather than hot and cold seasons. The environment of the savanna is very different from the rainforest and deserts that are found in other parts of Africa. It is also very different from anything in the United States. Here’s what a savanna looks like: Picture. Here’s another one: Picture.

I had a chance to travel through a savanna. Check out some pictures from my safari Slideshow.

One of my safari friends was telling me about these see-through fish. I am on a quest to find out where they live and all about their habitat. Once I do, I’ll post a Blog and tell you what I discovered.

Post a Blog from your classroom and I’ll sign on and read it as soon as I can!

Your Traveling Pal,

Bart

Mrs. J's ziggy-zaggy, zooming peeps!!!

Greetings, Bart!
How are you doing today? We are doing very well in school today. We just finished celebrating day 'Z' by zig-zagging at recess, eating zoo animal crackers and wearing zebra colors. Tomorrow is day Y. On day 'Y' we draw ying-yangs, play yarn games or do yarn crafts, wear yellow, and play with yo-yo's. For snack, we are going to eat yogurt. We might even do some yoodling and say yo to our friends.
Thank you so much for writing to us. We love hearing about your adventures. We take adventures everyday through our imagination and the use of our Smart Board. Sometimes we hop on Smart Board Airways and fly to other countries other times we take our Smart Board submarine and go under the sea. Right now we are learning about habitats, we have been taking our Smart Board submarine to a lovely place called the Magic Porthole. Here is a link for the Magic Porthole, so that you can go on adventures with us too!
So, Bart, do you like meetings? We have a morning meeting everyday. During morning meeting, we sing songs, we read the message for the day, we practice our spanish words and then we have centers. We do centers during reading time. Our centers are Activity, Choice, Library and Writing. We have a library in our classroom but we can also go to the big school library during our library center time. During writing, we write in our journals, our family journals and somtimes we write in our travel journals. We really like writing!! We also love reading. We read in small groups with our cool teacher, Mrs. J. We read novels, short stories poems, and we play a really cool game called Brain Bowl on Fridays. We also have a Spelling Bee on Fridays where we have a chance to win a prize from the Treasure Box. We love Fridays!!
Thanks again, Bart, for blogging with us and we really, really, really hope to hear from you again tomorrow. Here is a picture of something we did today to celebrate our love for the letter Z!!!
Thanks again and Happy Z day to you!!
Love,
The Friends in Mrs. J's super awesome multi-age class

Around the World from Z to A ... Z Day!

Hello boys and girls,

This is Bart - your friendly Traveling Blogger. Today I am traveling in Zambia.

This is a very interesting country. Zambia is located in the middle of the continent of Africa. Check it out with this Map Link. Zambia has 8 neighboring countries and is home to one of the most famous waterfalls in the world. It’s called Victoria Falls. The name “Victoria” is definitely not an African name. It is actually English. I think it was named after one of their Queens. Here’s a picture I took: Victoria Falls

I can’t wait to write you from my next location. I’m going on safari to find some awesome African animals!

Post a Blog from your classroom and I’ll sign on and read as soon as I can!

Well, I’m off to join the safari.

Your Traveling Friend,

Bart
